Meeting with Boone County Resource Council

Vekcey and George met with the BCRC on Thursday 10/02/08. Ed Thomason had originally planned to do this, but Ed has had a health crisis and couldn't attend. There were about 20 people at the meeting, from various service organizations in the community.

We talked about the fact that this organization is just in the thought stage at this point. We discussed some of the challenges in getting the community support we're going to need. We talked about the fact that our homeless problem is largely invisible. It was a very good discussion, with a lot of interest and participation from the council's members.

A few of the people in attendance seemed particularly interested, and I would like to see the folks in development get together with them. We had several penetrating questions and a real emotional connection from Fran Walters of Independent Living and Patty Brill of EOC (that's an educational outreach program at Northark.
